70's 65 hp johnson safety switch bypass

i am having a problem....where i am randomly losing spark and when i play with this switch it starting to spark again so if i could figure out how to bypass it then i would know that was the issue...thx

Hi George,

According to the wiring diagram the safety switch locks out the starter. http://www.maxrules.com/graphics/omc/wiring/1972_65_Eshift.jpg
You can bypass that safety switch by shorting it permanently, or connecting the wire going to it to ground.

That safety switch has nothing to do with the ignition, your ignition problem lies somewhere else.

replaced the saftey switch in the picture and its running like a champ...thx
