Brother got a new to him (us) pontoon with a 1988 15hp Johnson electric start engine.

Am able to start it via key switch but only way to stop engine is choke it or throttle all the way down in gear.

Can't find where to attach a kill switch any body know.

Thanks

That engine should ground the power pack through the ignition switch when the key is turned off.
There should be a black/yellow wire going to the power pack, make sure it is grounding itself when the key is in the off position.

Thank you for the reply.

Think I found the Kill wires. Under the spark plugs, there is a 5 prong wire connector. In position "E" there is a wire leading up to the key switch. running with that wire there is also a ground wire.

Don't remember the color will be a day or 2 before I can check it again.

I know the key switch is wired wrong.
