The story, I have a 15hp Johnson 80 model on my tinnie, remote steer. Lower unit currently U/S , needs a good overhaul anyway. Got a hold of another 15hp Johno 79 model, tiller steer. Am changing this using my existing controls etc, everything is a straight swap. Problem with the kill switch wiring is it isnt long enough to stretch into place. Can I cut the wire marked in the pic, along its length somewhere and use an elect connector to utilise the longer harness? Thanks, 27-9-13 020.jpg

Sure, why not...it would be a good idea to use connectors that will protect the splices and use the same color (and gauge) . Most will use the old method of twist and tape any color wire together , it will work, for awhile. But , it will be the reason for future problems. So, do it right the first time and good luck.

Use the butt connectors that already have the heat shrink built into them.

Thank you fellas. I didn't think it would be a problem. Just needed to be sure.
