I have a 1984 Johnson that i have had quite a bit of new electronics ie ignition module, timer and base etc.. basically everything except coil packs and the recitifer is new (within the last 6 months). i rebuilt my 1984 Tracker and when i did it i replaced the gauges with a new Faria Tach. it worked the first two times after the rebuild and since then no sign of life. the gauge has power and reacts to voltage when the key applies it goes from its non powered resting state to 0 as you would expect. can anyone guide me on some other things to try/test to see where exactly my problem lies or maybe narrow it down.

Put a voltmeter across the battery when running it at wot. If it shows 14 volts or better your charging system is working.
