1995 johnson 150hp flushing

I was told on my motor I can flush by using the pee hole and back flush. If I unscrew the pee hole thingy the threads are the same as garden hose. I can I just back flush instead of using muffs and starting the motor??? I run in salt water.

Yes.....You can start it up but don't go higher than an idle.

is what i mean is can i just flush using the pee hole and NOT start motor, i know i have to start it using muffs

Yes.............But running the mtr at idle gets more of the crap out of it.
