1993 evinrude intruder optical sensor loose

Hello

the tabs on the optical sensor are actually broken and it is just sitting there wiggle wiggle

Question :

was having a problem with the motor dying a 1/2 to WOT, just like you turned off the switch
at slow speed engine USSUALY ran ok but would turn off sometimes

Could this be the culprit ? was getting ready to check everything with my DVA when i noticed this.

Start with replacing the sensor and go from there.

Thanks I will, do you think i should order the timing wheel just in case it was damaged.
I takes so long to get things here and it's not very expensive ?

Probably a good idea seeing the sensor was loose.
