Is a Johnson A50, a 4 hp from the early 1930's worth fooling with

I have been offered a complete but seized one for $75. Parts seem to be very scarce. Is there a source for gaskets, seals, carb parts, oversized pistons & rings?

Thanks

A lot of restoring an antique involves ingenuity. Making your own gaskets, even machining parts.

It is a labour of love for sure.

There are certain collectors that stock NOS items, but not all.

I have brought many old iron back that were stuck from sitting, and not all required opening up the powerhead. Every restoration is different though.

Is it worth it? Well to me it is. I try my best to prevent as many as I can from getting into the scrap yard.

I've got an A65 and it is a sweet running little motor. Well worth messing with.
