1990 30 hp evinrude clicks but wont turn over with key start

This is my first post with this site, so hopefully you guys can help me out. I have a 1990 30 hp evinrude outboard (model #E30EENR) with electric start on the back on my 11 foot whaler. One day it was working fine, and then the next it just stopped. Now when I turn the key on, i get a small click from the starter solenoid, but that is it. Also when i press the key in the electric primer seems to not be working any more either. I jumped the solenoid and the motor turned over no problem. so I replace the solenoid thinking that was the problem, but still nothing. I've checked the wiring, and it looks pretty clean, and it is clearly getting plenty of power because when i just the solenoid prongs it turns over with ease. I have been stressing over this for some time now, so I really hope someone can help me out. Thanks in advance, if there are any pics that would help you out just let me know.

Disconnect and scrub shiny all connections to the battery, both ends.
