I bought a boat from a guy who lost the keys. So I ordered a new switch. The switch is a sierra mp41000. I am having trouble matching the wires to the correct tabs on the new switch. The new switch has the following information
*C=choke
I= ignition circuit
S= solenoid
B=batery
M=magneto to circuit
M= not labeled. Looks to be a negative

The old switch is labeled as
M= black and yellow wire (kill circuit)
M=black (I assume is a ground)
A= purple wire (accessory)
C=purple and white wire (choke)
B= red (batery)
S= white (solenoid)
Can any one match these up? Also, which wire goes to which "M"

Haven't you pretty much answered your own question? Except the purple wire goes to the "I" terminal on the new one (same thing as the "A" on the old one.

If the new one has one of the "M" terminals unique, like raised or something, it is for the black/yellow wire, and plain black goes on the other "M". If they are identical, makes no difference which is which.

Im prety sure I have it hooked up correctly now. However when I try to start the engine , my battery terminals start smoking. It only happens when I engage the starter.
