Motor model - j175gleom

I'm looking at the top of the motor where the timing arm comes out to the side and it has a kind of ratchet clip type deal on it which looks like it will advance or retard the timing at idle. It also has "high & low" printed on the top of the arm where you can adjust this kind of a snap clip sort of mechanism.

Is this where you adjust the idle on this motor or is there more to it? Is high when it is in fast start and low when that drops off? I am new to this motor and I haven't received my service manual yet.

Any information on this adjustment is much appreciated!

These are the part numbers of the apperatus I'm looking at -

0335593, 0335592, 035591

Sorry no one replied. I have the same question. Mine idles at about 1100. Thinking it should be 900 or less. But I can't find anything to tell me how to slow it down.

Start your own thread and then someone will help. Post model number and issue. But yes, if all else is perfect and fast start is not malfunction9ng that is how it's done
