Hello All
I have a 1983 evinrude 140 hp. Model E140TRLCTE. I have a few problems that i don't understand about the motor.

First
I don't understand the choke system on the motor. It has a switch on the side of the carburetor for automatic or manual. Do i have to take the hood off to choke the motor on a cool start

Second
I can't get the trim motor to work. I know there is a screw on the port side to let the motor down. Is there a way to rise the motor up for i
can remove the trim motor or maybe i am not wiring the trim motor right

Third
Can i test the trim motor

Doesn't your engine have a red lever on the choke solenoid?
The lever should be turned over the body of the solenoid for the automatic operation. If you push the key IN youshould here the solenoid click, that is how you choke the engine. While turning the engine over push in on the key and it will choke the engine.
Does the motor try to run in the up position? Is the screw to lower the engine manually turned in all the way?
