Hi all,
I was wanting to swap my lower unit and all of my ignition system off of my 1973 85 hp Johnson for a 1969 115 Johnson power head. Can it be done? I know the ignition changed in 1973 but did the whole power head? A little background on my situation, I have a 1973 85 hp that has low compression. I purchased a 1969 115 with great compression with a rebuilt power head. I found out today it has a bad lower unit when under load and I know the ignition system is not all that good on a 1969. So can I swap the parts are they interchangeable as whole systems.
Thank you for all of your input.
Chad

I know the cranks/flywheels are different due to ignition differences as is the end cap. I would measure crank height as the 69 has a distributor cap under flywheel...

I believe the bolt pattern joining the power head to the midsection is different. The splines for the flywheel to driveshaft were different too if I remember right
