1973 johnson 50 hp choke not working

My electric choke stop working on my 50 hp johnson. It is 1973 and has a toggle switch for the choke. Not sure what to do to fix this.

Ok, so I'll show my stupidity.....what is a tagoo switch? Well anyway, is the manual choke knob in the automatic position (pulled half way out)?

EDIT: toggle????

Sorry about the typo, I will check the setting on the manual switch. Thanks for the advice.

I checked the manual switch and it is in the correct position. When I turn the key to the run position the choke goes on a little bit. When I press the toggle switch the choke fully engages but when I let go of the toggle switch the choke still stays fully engaged. Should the choke return to open position when I let go of the toggle switch?
