My engine would run for about 5-10 minutes and then shut off as if I had hit the key. Friend told me that it had to be something on the armature plate, so I changed the points and gapped them and changed the condensers. Then when I started it, it ran like crap in idle, missing, spitting and spuddering. So I came across an engine with an all electric armature plate and I changed everything over. Now when I try to start it the engine back fires and wont start. Have I screwed up the timing somehow? And if so how do I reset the timing. The is my first time working on a boat motor so please explain in great detail.
