1993 Evinrude E3RETB 3HP 2Stroke Shift Lever replacement

I broke my shifter by not being careful and I cant figure out how to replace the thing. Anybody got any ideas? See attached picture.

Looks like there is a cotter pin on the inside, #37. Might have to pull the power head.

Yup I think your right the replacement lever has a hole in the shaft that is inside the powerhead. I might try a large magnet to remove the cotter pin
