for some reason im not getting anywhere fast with the throttle. even when i open it up its a slow 10 mph. should i adjust the throttle? compression maybe? im not sure where to start. first boat. also is there a place on this model that you can hook a hose up too so you can work on it at home? im totally oblivious to it at the moment. unfortunately the nearest lake is far and driving to find out its still not right is getting to be a chore. boat3.jpg

You can buy muffs which go on the water intake for about $5
Yes go compression and spark checking first
Hows she sounding, any missing/backfiring?

As "Bosunsmate" suggests, always start the trouble shooting procedure with: Checking the compression (should be approx 100+ psi) , then with all spark plugs removed... Check the spark which must jump a 7/16" gap with a strong blue lightning like flame... a real SNAP!

Note, the 7/16" gap is important. Checking the spark by using the spark plugs is a waste of time!

Spark plugs should be Champion QL77JC4 plugs gaped at .040 .

If you have proper compression and spark, the usual cause is fouled carburetors, in which case, remove, clean, and rebuild them as needed.
