1986 Johnson 225 Tach pole setting

Can someone please help me? What do I want my pole setting to be dialed at for a 1986 Johnson VRO 225 V6?

The tachometer operates off of the engine six (6) pulse charging system... set the tachometer dial to number six (6).

Thank you very much. What would happen if it were set on the wrong setting? The back of my new tach has 5 different options. The "P"=pulese and the "C"=cyl.

Options are:
2p-4c
3p-6c
4p-8c
5p
6p

Which six do I want to set it to? 3P-6c, or 6p?

6p... for six pulses.

The top 3 are for stern drive. The bottom 2 are for outboards.
