I thought I'd clean the "filter screen" for the gas and ended taking apart the fuel pump, not knowing it was a fuel pump (lol).
I tried a couple of times to put it back together and it leaked, I was also suspicious about the small spring (which appears to be missing the cap) and how it sat under a gasket off to one side.
So I ordered a rebuild kit for a later year as I couldn't find one for a 71, but read while searching for info it would work (looks the same).
But now I'm stumped about putting it together, I found an exploded view
But still am not sure about that small spring and cap. Any help is appreciated.
