Johnson 115 Piston - Imgur
Here is the story: I had 105 psi on one cylinder (compared to 125-130 on others) and I uploaded the first picture in this album. The wisemen here said I was due for some trouble. Well it happened. The rest of the pictures are of the damage that happened not long after. To me it looks like a ring broke and I need to come up with a plan. A reman is ~$2500 and there are a couple of ancient ones on the local Craigslist for $800-$900. As I look at this though, the cylinders look super clean. For ~$800 I could get a rebuild kit and maybe even some Wisecos and rebuild it myself (assuming the cylinders are in spec). What do you guys think? Also, do you think that head can be reused? It looks like a pretty easy rebuild so it seems like a gasket set, bearings, and pistons and I will be all set but I am not as experienced as all of you so I thought I would get your two cents.
Thank you in advance!
