Ignation Problems with my Johnson HD25 (1948)

Hi all,
I have no sparks while i trying to start my engine! Is there anybody who know more about this old engine? How can i check the ignation system? I mounted two new spark plugs! Thanks for your help....regards from switzerland

First step would be to clean and gap the points. 600 grit sandpaper to polish the point surfaces, then run a piece of card stock dipped in lacquer thinner or acetone through them to remove residue. Gap at .020 inches.
