As the title reads I'm seriously looking at a 1999 Evinrude 6 HP single cyl. 4 stroke What kind of things should I be looking out for, is the single cyl. engine going to have enough guts to put my 1979 17' glasply , is it going to vibrate / rattle a ton more than a 2 cyl. ?? It has a extra long leg on it..

He is asking $750 looks pretty nice.. ???

Compared to a 2 stroke 6HP it will vibrate and be noisy.

If you can find a late 90s OMC 8HP or 9.9HP 4 stroke, that is a twin and smooth as a baby's butt. I strongly recommend twins.

Before I'd buy it I'd check on parts availability for it if you need repairs.

That's a ton of money for such a small motor... I'd keep looking. Prices during the summer are ridiculous for boating stuff. At least here in the north.
For smaller motors I would definitely not pay more than $100 per HP. This is definitely the top dollar I would pay for a pristine motor.
I would offer the guy no more than $400.00 and see what he says. Most people selling these small motors don't care what they get for them, they already replaced the need for it.

OH yeah, as a comparison I sold my 4hp evinrude for $125 to an old man wanting it for a kicker motor. Again, I replaced it already and didn't care what I got for, just didn't want to give it away.
