My ECM alarm (3 beeps, 1 beep, 3 beeps) keeps going off indicating my idle speed is too high. It's idling at 1,000 rpm according to the tach on the console. Following instruction in the shop manual, I disconnected the IAC hose from the silencer. Then I'm supposed to close off the hose with my finger and adjust the idle screw. But when I block air from getting into the IAC valve (it's pulling vacuum) the engine stops immediately. Does this mean the IAC valve is faulty? Dirty? I tried carb and throttle body cleaner into the hose but no effect. Ideas? I hope the attachment worked..it is the procedure and pictures I'm following. Thanx.
