1977 Evinrude 115 Fuel gushes out of top carburetor on startup after momentary choke.

Never experienced this before. Engine initially fires up, then when using intermittent choke to facilitate warmup, fuel starts gushing out of the top carb throat and engine then floods out. Appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

Sounds like the float is sticking open- not shutting off fuel when the carb bowls are full. I'd pull that top carb apart. The float is not cork, but a synthetic which should be impervious to fuel. So check out the float needle and seat. Something could be sticking.
