Hey folks,

I'm looking at purchasing a 1995 90hp Johnson for a rebuild project. This motor is a 90 degree crossflow. I've completed a dozen or so rebuilds on loopers 3-cylinder and 4-cylinder without any problems.

I'm wondering if these crossflows require any special tools or if they are especially difficult to work on compared to loopers? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

If you've done prior overhauls, you've probably got most of the common tools. The factory service manual lists all special tools required at the start of the powerhead section. That's biggest help: an original factory service manual-check out this website: outboardbooks.com
