Hey everyone. I'm new to the forum. Great site! I have just decided to take on my first boat project and have used lots of info from this site. I have come to a point that I need some help. I have 1972 Johnson 65 hp motor with the electric shift ( model# 65es72). I started testing the shift and I'm stuck. If I turn the motor over and apply 12v to throne shift wire I get reverse and to both it is in neutral. But with no voltage to either wire it does not seem to have forward. If I turn the fly wheel over by hand slowly I get forward. Any advice?

What type of oil do you have in it ??. You should have OMC Premium Blend.

I don't know what type of oil is in it. The guy I got the motor from said that it was changed recently. I checked thee so and it seemed good and was clean so I didn't change it. I will change it so I know for sure what is in it. What type of fluid do I need? Type C? Thanks again for the reply.

Yes, type"c" is what you want to use. I get mine from the "store" on this site.
