Hello,
I'm having an issue with my motor. I'm not getting any speed out of my motor and every once and a while the throttle seem to kick in and be up to normal speed and then it kicks out again. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Kevin

You can almost bet the farm that it is dropping one cylinder. Coils are a prime suspect if they haven't been replaced yet. ALL 1958 original OMC are bad. But of course that isn't the only suspect. There are breaker points, condensers, spark plugs, wires, etc. Don't be lured into that carburetor trap. That ain't it.

If you were a few more hours south Id be able to help, but North Bay is a bit of a haul from me! lol

Pull off the recoil (pull start), then remove the little inspection port in the flywheel and look at the coils. If they are cracked/aged as mentioned, time to update that ignition system.
