In testing out all my electrical and ignition to trouble shoot some issues. I want to test the output of my 89 150 XP 35 amp system. Only the more expensive and hard to find meters will handle more than 20 amps but the clamp style are readily available and priced decently. Will these accurately show the same results?

You might find a small one at some parts houses that you just set on the wire. They use to use them for automotive use.

both my greenlee and amprobe amp meters can do dc readings so yes you can buy one that will work just make sure it says that it will measure dc. you can buy a used meter if you only plan to use it a few times.
The only diffrence in use between ac and dc is the dc has to be zeroed before you clamp it over the wire.

ok thanks, I'll see what I can find. I hate to spend $100 for a one time use.
