I went to take a look at the coil yesterday and there is oil all over the armature plate. Not grease, it's oil a good bit too. So I took everything off down to the upper crank shaft seal and took it out. Picking another up another today. When I pulled it out it was even with the bottom of the bevel on the crank housing. But there's probably 3/8 to 1/2 " more shaft from where it was sitting to the top of what I'm guessing is the upper bearing. How far down should it sit on the shaft. Also what's the best stuff to clean the oil off of the coil and sensor without damaging them.

Try to re-install the seal similar to where it was. It's not important that it be any further down. Clean, dry, rag should be all you need to do the clean up. Avoid using chemicals but a little dish washing soap won't hurt anything.
