1976 Evinrude 35 hp seemed to try and jump into neutral?

hello everyone......i took my boat out this weekend after sitting for a good while. Of course I have to clean the carb again but have a new problem. i was running about 2/3 trottle with the choke pulled to keep it running and tried going a little faster. When she was full trottle the engine shot up like you had pulled it in neutral! I pulled back on the trottle some and she was still in gear and kept going. Any time I tried going faster it did it again. Any ideas? Thanks

sounds like it could be a spun prop hub. engine continues to run but u loose propellsion correct? she will move in lower rpm's though?? either a new prop or have the old one's hub replaced.
