I have a motor guide trolling motor 12/24 i would like to wire it for 24 only. I do not have a 3 wire plug it has what looks like a marinco 12/24 recepticle with 4 6 gauge wires going to it. two red two black. I have read I do not need 4 wires to run 24 volt so is it just a matter of disconnecting two at the plug and normal 24v wiring at the batteries? do I have to cut the white wire in the trolling motor harness that is supposed to go to 12v+? Or should it work if wired like this picture thanks

Just tried to wire it 24v and nothing........i took apart the plug and i have a black red and white wire inside.....but coming out of the recepticle i only have 6 gauge red and black

Figured it out guys.

confussed why is foot switch on the ground wire before the plug?

disconnect batteries then remove the switch for selecting 12/24 at the front of the boat. run 2 wires from the batteries one to the 24v pin the other to the ground pin on the trolling motor plug cap all spare wires. set foot pedal to 24v then plug it in
