I rebuilt the transom for my pontoon and removed the motor, that said its all back together, except for an orange wire that comes of the control end of the wiring harness (not the motor side) and goes to the oppesite side of the engine, my question is this just a ground wire? I for the life of me cant remember where i took it off any help would be great thanks

There is no "orange" wire incorporated in that (control) instrument cable wiring harness. I suspect that it is simply a add on wire that someone has installed.

Where does the other end of that "orange" lead to... what is it attached to?

I dont know, its an add on im sure cause its not in the wrapped harness, it was attached to a black wire on the other side of the engine, screwed in to what appears to be a solonoid of some sort. i am gonna crank the motor with a meter and see if it puts anything out?
