I am working on a jw16, it has a high and low adjustable carb. I also have a parts motor with just the low speed adjustment carb. is one better than the other? it runs ok now, will the newer carb make it any better?

I'm not familiar with the motor specifics but I do personally prefer adjustability on both ends of the rpm spectrum :joyous:

The newer carb has a fixed jet. No better, now worse. I actually prefer the adjustable jets as I can tune them.

The fixed jet orifice must be absolutely, positively CLEAN, and if so it will run fine. The adjustable needle allows you to compensate for a bit of blockage by merely opening it up a tad. On the other hand, the fixed jet was great for the people that just couldn't grasp the basics of adjusting a carburetor. They quit putting adjustable high speed jets on cars a Llo.o.o.n.n.n.gggg time ago. Yeah, the don't even put carburetors on them any more.
