How do you get the foot off after removing the bolts to install a new water pump on a Johnson 1997, model no. J25REUM.??

I wouldn't mind some help on that one too. I've got a '97 E25RLEUM 25hp Evinrude that's been sitting round for a few years and I would like to inspect/overhaul the water pump also.

Interesting also that our motors model number is only different by the L (pretty sure the E or J just means evinrude or johnson) maybe the L means long?

Dlocker67, you will need to disconnect the shift rod before the LU will drop. Before everyone chips in I would suggest you purchase an OEM manual, they are worth their weight in gold. Remember OEM only.
