1976 Johnson 200 hp lower unit removal

I'm trying to drop the lower unit to replace water pump but only goes down about a inch then stops.... Any help would be awesome

Did you disconnect the shift rod at the belcrank just under the bottom carb in the lower cowling?

Go to shop.evin.com and look up your mtr. Go to cyl and crankcase and look for # 84. Loosen that bolt and spread link as that will disconnect the upper linkage.

yep just needed to look at it a little bit closer and figured that out Thanks
(BTW the impeller was toast when I finally got it all apart housing melted as well)

Did you find all the pieces of the impeller ??

I'm pretty sure I got all the pieces cleaned out half a can of goof off and two hours with a flat head then I hooked the muffs up and pumped water through it to clean any other blockage out seems to work fine now, would it hurt anything if I hooked a garden hose up to the water line running into the motor with the bottom drive off to make sure all the ports are cleaned out and flowing good?
