79 70 hp johnson fuel pump kit part #

Does anyone know the sierra# for a fuel pump kit for the 79 70 hp johnson. the iboat doesnt list one for a 79 it seems the pumps were used on alot of engine years. Does anyone have a number that will cross so I can order a kit.

The factory never made (and still does not make) a fuel pump repair kit for this engine. The pump kits they do make were only up through the 78 model year.

The 1979 70, model 70EL79R calls for a fuel pump p/n 0438559

The 1982 70 models E70TLCNB E75ERLCNB E75TRLCNB J70TLCNB E70ELCNB E75ERCNB all have the same p/n 0438559 pump and a Fuel Pump Repair kit, p/n 0393103

OMC, Johnson & Evinrude - FUEL PUMP - 1982 Johnson/Evinrude 70-75

Both the 79 and 82 pumps are the old-style 3-port mechanical pumps. The original factory fuel pump part number is the same for both years. The original part number supercedes a few times to the 438559 part number. It's interesting that the Bombardier parts and accessories book does not show a rebuild kit (393103) for pumps later than 78, but their online exploded parts diagrams clearly show that part number kit will work for ofd those later both years. Looks like you will be ok with the kit. About $ 20.
