I am rehabbing an old boat with and using a 1958 on FDE 12, 18hp. I picked up an old Airguide Tach for it.
THe harness I have has unused wire I can use.

My question is on wirng it to the motor. The instructions note to hook it up to the primary on the Magnito.
took off the fly wheel, but don't see an access point to run the wire to te igniton plate. Any clues on how to route the wire?

Thanks

Here is where the factory put them for kill wires (on motors that they did). You will have to drill a hole. The wire comes up thru the grommet, along the coil, then under the coil, over to the breaker points screw that also attaches the coil & condenser wires.

Disregard the cracked coils, hopefully yours don't look like that. They all do unless they have already been replaced.

Aha. Was wondering if I would have to drill. Fortunately my coils look shiney new.

So, per your photo, if I drilled a hole at about he 4:00 position on the plate (between the condenser and coil) and attached it to the wire coming out of the right side of the coil, we're good to go?

Thanks for the quick reply.
