I am thinking of adding electric start as I already pack a battery for a trolling motor. The motor is a 71 18hp. I think the starting system will be, starter, solenoid, wires, and ignition switch.

I purchased a bracket off of Ebay. bracket.JPG

Did I get the right one?

Thanks,
Kevin

Wrong part. This is the existing bracket for a non electric start..... Dang.

Hate it when that happens.

I was thinking of trying to convert a '57 18 to electric start. Have all the parts from a 60's model. But don't know if everything will fit in the clam shell and if it will hold in place. Have to get the parts side by side.

Everything will fit. I just completed the electric state install on my '59 Evinrude 18. Here are some pictures of my install.

Series, - love the ignition key, looks like you did a great job.

There is a big difference between a '57 / 58 clam shell and a '59 cowl. This is the 57 18hp.
