looking at a used jet drive which has been converted with a standard gear case. before I do a reman powerhead.
the model number is J90JLERC which shows a 94 90hp
the motor cover says 65hp. were these motors rated diffferently because of the jet drive?
anything different beside the lower unit?

is 140 psi good compression for this motor?

Re: jet drive

The motors are identical except for the lower unit (prop or jet) and yes there is a 30% reduction in HP due to inefficiencies at the jet, so a 90 will be marked 65 as a jet. The 65 HP figure is a very optimistic one.
