Evinrude 18HP model number?

Hey guys,

Just bought a tinny with Evinrude 18HP outboard and I can not see any model number that reflects "18" in it anywhere.

It looks 1970-80 ish model and have tried referencing numbers on the outboard with this link with no luck http://www.iboats.com/basics/evinrude-50-79.html

Only noticeable number i saw was A0080788

I have attached a pic

Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like early to mid 70s. I think '72, as I had one once.

Is there no tag on the transom bracket? Small tag, rectangular, about 1x2?

Hi thanks for that prompt response, yeah there's nothing there either however there is a rectangle plate looking thing but nothing on it as per image attached

yea just googled evinrude 72 model and does look very similar, basically im getting a fuel line pump online and just want to make sure the fittings will fit, so getting one to fit a 72 model should surely fit mine if its not the same year model

Try scraping the paint off the tag, someone painted over it.

or cleaning it off with paint thinner or acetone.
