Hi there, so I have a problem with what I suspect is my old 1988 Evinrude 140 Remote control Box. I have managed to measure how much movement I require at the shift arm to move the gearbox from forward to reverse and it is 65mm however I am only getting a movement of 57mm at the Remote box and 55mm at the end of the shift cable.
As a result I am now looking to purchase and install a new remote control box. (BRP Johnson Evinrude side mount Remote Control 5006180) I think, I have been told parts for mine are obsolete. The question I have is how much movement can I obtain from the new type of Remote and is this adjustable. I would hate to replace the remote only to find I have the same problem. I.E. less than 65mm of movement at the engine. Thanks.
