Hi,

I'm recently purchased a boat with a (apparently) 1993 Johnson 55 hp outboard but i would like to be sure of that (year)
anyone knows how to do that?

I have this data from printed in outboard:

Model No. SR55RSH
Serial No. G02613782

I would appreciate any info about that.

Thanks and Regards.

Can you recheck the model number, I can't cross that number on any of the charts I have.

If you're sure the model # is correct you could call BRP customer service and ask them. It may not be a USA model and built in another country.

all the johnson motors made in the late 80s and early 90s will start with the letter J or have two letters before the the hp rating which is 55..and one will always be a J...for the motors in ther 90's the model # have a W in them after the 55....

Look around on this site and see if you can find an e-mail address to send your question to.
http://www.brp.com/en-us/engines/evinrude-outboard-engines

they wont answer question on outboards older than 1997.....

they dont give a crap about anything they didnt make...

case closed

i have called them..luckily I have a 1997 motor as well as a 1995 of the same model....so i can ask but tell them its the 1997 I am asking about.

Re: 1993 Johnson 55 Hp - really 1993?

Hi Guys,

I brought the boat to a mechanic to have checked it and it looked an old Johnson manual and we found a line:

55RSH-55RSLN............................55 HP............................1988

I supose that's the model taking the last part of my outboard model number SR(55RSH)

So, I think is a 88' but the important thing is that the outboards is in great conditions...

Anyways, Thanks for your help guys. Thread closed

Regards.

your model numbers dont match anything from 1988.... the pattern isnt part of the OMC model pattern....

as far as i know the foreign model numbers uised a similar pattern to the amcerican OMC #'s juss using an extra letter in from of the HP #(55 in your case)...

it looks more like the number of a 1983 55 hp (J55 RSLN) in the johnson covers

but if it runs and you are happy...thats the first important step...good luck

I just talked to a friend of mine at BRP and he thought it could be a mtr built in Canada when OMC still was in business. When OMC went broke, all the numbers were lost. Could you post a pic of it ??
