Evinrude 88 hp control box problem-can't control speed

We've got a Nordic Crestliner with an 88hp Evinrude motor. The control box isn't functioning - we have no control over the speed. Will go in reverse. Worked fine previously - don't know what happened.

Have you disconnected the throttle cable at the engine to see if the cable works properly, maybe you have a broken throttle cable.
