The issue I am having is that warmup lever actuates the fast idle very little. There seems to be slack when I move the lever up until just before it gets to the stop. Just before it gets to the stop the linkage moves slightly. Another issue is that the timing advance does not go all the back (appears to be spring loaded ??) agains the idle screw. Once I get the engine running it runs well with good power. I think the problem is with the Throttle / shifter but there seems to be one way it goes together. Is there a spring the move the timing advance??? Thanks Brad

Is the throttle cable adjusted properly? Remove the throttle cable at the engine and see if advance comes back to the stop. If it does, turn the knurled knob on the cable to adjust it.

its likely that your fast idle lever and mating linkage are worn as shown below. You can try to locate new ones or drill in and install roll pins as I have done...P1030478.jpgP1030481.jpg
