'55 Evinrude 25 hp Intake Silencer

I'm looking for an intake silencer for my 1955 Evinrude 25 hp BigTwin electric start motor. There are some options on ebay and any help on knowing which of these might fit best is greatly appreciated.


-Evinrude 1956 30HP 25924, 25925, 25526, 25527 Big Twin Electric (this one has a small spattering of holes directly in front of the intake on the carb


-1956 EVINRUDE 30 HP BIGTWIN - this one does not have the holes

Or, would it be better to go with the Johnson 25hp seahorse?

Any thoughts? Does anybody have one they are looking to get rid of?

Have you checked the parts breakdowns to see if they interchange, are they the same part number?
I would get the one listed for my engine. If you look at the top of the page in the "Top Secret File" sticky, you will find a list of salvage yards there, maybe one of them can help you out.

I've never seen one with the pattern of holes in the first cover. Looks like something someone may have added after the fact.

Frankly, I don't think the motor cares one way or the other. I'd go with the one from the '55 Johnson - it is the correct one for your motor, just a different color...

Evinrude and Johnson of same year should be the same.

Those holes are not factory originals. As for the other two, choose the one with best total price + S/H

Ive seen one hole drilled, for easy fogging, but never that many!
