My 1958 18hp steering is not as tight as I would like. How do I tighten it? It is a tiller.

Is there a tension screw somewhere on the transom shaft of the motor?

Hunker down and peer between the stern brackets, right above the transom. See that screw head looking back at you? That is the co-pilot screw (steering friction). Screw it in till you get the tightness you want.

Found it. Thanks. I was looking higher and lower. It is under the tilt lock/release lever.
