Greetings from Finland.

I tried to find help from previous threads, but couldn't find exact answer/troublesooting for my problem.

I have Johnson 20 hp 1991 outboard with electronic start. When I try to start the engine cold, first I
pump the fuel bulb firm. But when I push the key in while starting the engine, the primer solenoid does not click.
It used to work just fine. Engine starts perfectly, when i use manual primer (red lever) after I have pushed
the fuel bulb firm. The strange thing here is, that when I push the key in while the motor is running then the primer
solenoid works fine: it clicks and shoots fuel (engine is choking).

Shortly:
1. When engine is not running primer solenoid does not click
2. When engine is running primer solenoid clicks fine
3. Engine starts (with electronic start) fine using manual "choke"

So what would I have to do to find and fix the problem? I don't wanna use thar manual choke rest of my life ;)

Clean all lead contacts including ground. Might be a voltage drop due to resistance giving the problem.

Thanks. I will try that first. Problem is little bit weird because when motor is running the primer works ok, so I
think that neither primer solenoid nor key switch are broken.
