Re: 1976 55 hp johnson has no spark

I also have the same problem with the same engine 1976 Johnson Seahorse model number 55EL76E, serial number E4473745.

It was running good but then cut off. I started it back up again but could only run at low rpms. I soon found that my fuel line bulb to my external tank was deflated and the line was kinked, so I thought it just wasnt getting any fuel.
I straightened the line out and was able to run at full throttle until it just cut off. And I never was able to get it back started.
And I have checked spark and I have none.
I don't know whats going on.

Find the black/yellow wire on the power pack and disconnect it. Spark, boat wiring prob. No spark, mtr prob.

Coils , pack, stator or timer base. Go to to CDI Electronics.com and look for the trouble shooting procedures.

Hey after looking at CDI and trying a few things, I still had no luck. But I did find this. It looks like a ground to something.
Could be your issues also jasonb1?
