johnson 4hp deluxe....yellow slime on and below carb

just started work on a 4hp johnson deluxe thats been sitting in a basement for years, the only way i can get it to run is to squirt premix into the carb. the owner said it was fogged before storage, and the carb is covered with about 1/8" of yellow goo, which is also under the carb. i have fogged a few and never have made this yellow mess? could this "stuff" be the cause of the engine not getting fuel? ie, hs jet clogged? ( fuel is getting to the bowl)

What did he fog it with ??? I'd say yea, it probably DID bind up the finer parts of the carb. Best to clean the carb and go from there.

Does it taste like honey? Agree with above. Get it super clean or you could even get a new carb. kit and do it while you've got it opened up. Best of luck. Rick.
