First want to say thank you for the advice a few days ago about a different problem. Yall were dead on with your advice. So to everyone who helped, thank you. Now a new problem. 1985 70 H.P. Johnson. Runs great but today for the first time since ive owned the boat( bout a year) I ran longer than I usually do. Not far from the boat ramp on the way back in my horn starts going off. Now I know this is an engine overheat warning but it was peeing fine, so I know my water pump is fine. Is there any other reason that horn goes off? Also, what would cause engine to overheat if pump is ok? Could it be a faulty horn? Running mixed gas, vro disconnected. Any help would be great. Is there a way to check to see if water is being circulated like it should be?

Re: Horn sounding in side mount control box

If this was my mtr I'd take my infared temp gun and verify it was actually overheating and go from there. It could be a bad temp switch, horn or a grounded tan wire in the harness.
