So I just bought this motor. As a project. It needs work. I bought it as a bad motor. The guy said it had a bad cylinder. After pulling the heads off I saw that all cylinder walls look good with no signs of scoring!!! So I think I may get by with honing and new rings. the motor turns over fine by hand.

Anyways I wanted to ask if there is anything I should do like updates while I have the power head ripped down.

Also how good of motor was this? A buddy of mine told me the carbs were way to small and everyone changed them out to te 225 venom carbs?? Any truth to this?

Also i read something about number 2 carb should be jetted larger for better cooling?? Any truth to this?

And one last thing anyone rebuild these before? Is there any special tooling for crank or rid bearing installation? I do not have my service manual yet!!!

Thanks guys.
